Measurable Management

Translating Executive Strategy into Measurable Results

A Triad For Success:

Planning; Execution; Continuous Improvement.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Measurable Management™ is delivered exclusively in the State of Hawaii through the Hawai‘i Small Business Development Center Network (SBDC). The Hawai‘i SBDC is a statewide program with 5 service centers distributed over the islands of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, and Hawai‘i and the Hawai‘i Business Research Library located at Maui.

The Hawai`i SBDC Network Mission: To stimulate the economy and help individuals statewide by developing entrepreneurial skills among small businesses and the broader community through counseling, training, research, advocacy and other resources and activities.

Why Measurable Management™? In 2003 the SBDC launched a statewide professional and organizational development initiative, “Triad for Success”, to provide businesses and organizations with functional tools to increase competitiveness, efficiency and profits. Measurable Management™ is a revolutionary organizational development program that translates executive strategy into measurable results.

Aimed at frontline supervisors the program takes key business objectives and develops executable action plans. It is one of three key business development initiatives by the SBDC. The other two initiatives are:

NxLevel™

NxLeveL™ is a premier, nationally recognized entrepreneurial training program with proven results. The program focuses on business planning development. The SBDC is the exclusive licensed provider in the State of Hawaii.

Baldridge National Quality Program

Baldrige National Quality Program is a complete management system for any organization seeking continuous improvement through quality initiatives. The SBDC is an active participant in the Hawaii State Award for Excellence program that is based on Baldrige criteria. Consulting and workshops are available on request.

Measurable Management™ Effectiveness

Developed in the UK in the early 1990’s the program has been licensed by the world’s largest training company, FT Knowledge and implemented in organizations of all sizes. In early 2002 the author launched an U.S.A. initiative and licensed the program to the University of South Dakota’s Business Research Bureau. The initial U.S. results have mirrored the success in Europe. Return on investment typically averages ten times the program fees with occasional results scaling far beyond the average. A proven, effective program, participants are provided an extraordinary guarantee underwritten by the SBDC, SDU and McQuillan-Byrne on a full recovery of their tuition fee by the end of the program. Any financial risk is thereby eliminated for participating organizations.

About the Program: Measurable Management™ is aimed at team leaders, supervisors and first line managers (FLM). It focuses on planning and implementing improvements against team and organizational objectives. At the heart of the program is a philosophy that any plan requires a “change” at the processing level and that the wealth of any organization is created at the processing level. Closest to this level is the FLM.

The entire program consists of 10 three-hour meetings over six months. During the first three months, meetings are held bi-weekly, and participants gain knowledge of management skills. For the second three months, meetings are held monthly, and participants implement and present their ideas for action. Managing resources, information and relationships are the core themes reinforced throughout all sessions.
